Guides for Tours and Transportation
As part of our tourist services, Boreal North Adventure trains and maintains a roster of guides for tours and transportation throughout Finnmark. Our guides are ideal if you have a cruise ship or tour bus and need someone with deep local knowledge to welcome your guests, keep them informed, and entertained.
But you don’t have to be part of a large group to enjoy our guide services! They are always ready to take you on a city walking tour, a visit to Alta Canyon, or even a multi-day adventure across Finnmark, whether you’re traveling alone or not. Our guides can also provide transportation services, driving guests from point A to point B anywhere in the region.
Why Hire a Guide?
Of course, you can visit Alta Museum or the Northern Lights Cathedral on your own – you’ll manage just fine and have a great time. But with a guide, you’ll uncover so much more about the places you visit, enriching your experience and making it truly special.
Inside the cathedral, you might admire the large bronze cross, but will you notice and understand the symbolism the artist incorporated into the sculpture, or hear the amusing story about its delivery from Italy to Alta? Will you remember to stop along the fjord on your way to the Tirpitz Museum to see the massive bomb crater near where the warship was anchored?

Are Your Guides Really That Good?
Yes, they are! We hold very high standards and have a unique approach to guiding. Our managing director, Henriette, is formally trained in guiding and tourism and has passed her philosophy on to the rest of the company.
Our guides don’t just memorize information to repeat it at key points along the route. Instead, we train them to mix facts and details with their personal stories and insights. The result is a conversation, making your experience unique, fun, and personal.
Many of our guides are locals from Alta, while others have lived here for most of their lives. We also have guides from all over the world.
No matter where they come from, all our guides receive training in both guiding and local knowledge, so you’re guaranteed a special experience no matter who is leading your tour. Our training ensures that every guide loves the opportunity to show guests around.
What Tours Do We Offer with a Guide?
We offer a wide variety of ready-made tours listed in our catalog – you can browse for them under the “Private” category.
However, the possibilities are endless – we can provide guides for almost any activity in the region (in various languages, too).
If you want a guide to take you on a day trip to Hammerfest or Kautokeino, we have a guide for that. If you’d like to visit all the churches in Alta, we can do that too. Are you a UNESCO World Heritage Site enthusiast? Why not let one of our guides take you to the Alta Museum and then up to the small hill called Lille-Raipas, where the lesser-known Alta World Heritage Site is located? You can also hire a guide/driver for a week or two to explore all of Finnmark. We can cater to most of your needs.
