An exhibition about world heritage developed for the Norwegian World Heritage Centres. UNESCO’s World Heritage Convention from 1972 protects natural and cultural heritage that is inalienable to the world community. For the first time, a large exhibition about world heritage has been created in Norway. The exhibition conveys information about the eight Norwegian World Heritage Sites. At the same time, visitors are taken on a journey to the world’s most important natural and cultural areas. The exhibition has interactive installations and a design concept with triangles that are put together in undulating and sculptural installations,  inspired by mountains and the Norwegian landscape.

Do you want to experience the beautiful spectacle of the Northern Lights, but don’t know how or where to go? We pick you up at your hotel and bring you to our headquarters for a briefing on current weather and aurora conditions, and a light meal of soup and bread. Then we travel out by car to the best viewpoints, far from the light pollution from the city. Feel the raw power of Arctic waters beneath you as your RIB boat cuts through fjord swells, bringing you eye-level with humpback whales and orcas in their winter hunting grounds. This isn’t just whale watching – it’s an adrenaline-fueled encounter where your part of the marine environment. Experience the thrill as your expert captain navigates between towering mountains reflected in crystal-clear waters, chasing whale spouts on the horizon.

fun begins the moment you hop onto your reindeer sled. Your guide gives you a friendly push, the reindeer take charge, and suddenly you’re zipping across the snow in a ride that’s fast, funny, and just unpredictable enough to make you grin the whole way.

After the excitement, you duck into a big, cozy lavvo where a fire crackles in the center. Coffee is poured, dried reindeer snacks appear, and your Sami host starts sharing stories—some old, some personal, all fascinating. Then comes the joiking, the traditional Sami singing that’s part chant, part melody, and completely unique. You’ll even get to try it yourself, usually with plenty of laughter.

When your visit wraps up, you say farewell to the Sami world and head back to Alta. If there’s still time on the clock, your guide will take you to a few extra local sights before the tour ends.

Having seen the amazing ice sculptures in the Igloo Hotel, you will work with one of our local ice artisans to create your own. Your expert ice artisan will explain the methodology and tools used in carving a block of ice into an ice sculpture and then provide you with hands on guidance as to you do it yourself. The experience is concluded with a celebratory drink at the ice bar.

Sorrisniva is renowned for its culinary experiences which are based upon locally sourced produce. Our chefs create unique dishes using the best ingredients from Arctic Norway including reindeer and moose from the tundra, seafood from the Alta River and Norwegian sea, vegetables from local farms and berries picked in the local wilderness. Lunch and dinner experiences can be complimented with a special wine from our extensive cellar.
