As the expression goes, we Norwegians are born with skis on our feet! Now you have the opportunity to join a unique winter adventure in arctic nature. We take you on a ski trip in idyllic surroundings. Come and try cross-country skiing – Norway’s national sport in scenic Alta.

After we have picked you up, you will be taken up to Pæskatun, where our base is located. Here we collect ski equipment, clothes, and you will receive a small safety brief. A short course will also be given before we start. From there, the road goes to the local ski track, where the tour starts.

Listen to your guide as he conveys ski technique, stories about skiers, or what it’s like to live at 70 degrees north.

The trail is flat and suitable for all levels. Along the way, we will pass a small shelter– there we will serve hot drinks, snacks, as well as something good to chew on.

It`s a cozy and family friendly winter park that`s great for everyone, whatever your age and fitness level. Ski and snowboard down the slopes under the arctic sky. If you want to challenge yourself, we have lots of off-piste trails. When it’s time for a break, recharge with refreshments in our café at the base of the hill or at the Bjørnehiet cabin at the top.

Embark on a captivating winter journey through the snow-covered forests of Alta, where the allure of outdoor life in Finnmark beckons. As you step onto the trail leading to the frozen wonder of Orvvosfossen waterfall, prepare to be enchanted by the unique natural marvels that encompass you.

Following the trail for approximately 2 km, you’ll find yourself standing before the majestic frozen Orvvosfossen waterfall. Its crystalline cascade is a mesmerizing spectacle, where water has turned to ice, harmonizing with the tranquil winter surroundings. So, fasten your snowshoes, inhale the crisp winter air, and let the captivating wilderness of Alta guide your path as you delve into this frozen wonder.

It’s the classic Norwegian outdoor experience! Strap on snowshoes and head out into the forest, along with an Alaskan husky pulling a pulka with extra gear. Look for animal tracks and enjoy the crisp forest air. Drill into the ice of a frozen river or lake and see what you can catch.

Take time out for lunch at a lavvo (herdsman’s tent) around an open fire, and then hike back. Remember your camera – there are plenty of photo opportunities!

Getting right into the heart of the landscape via trekking isn’t off-limits during the winter – it’s just more commonly known as snowshoeing. Snowshoeing is a popular recreational activity for those who want to continue exploring the Arctic wilderness by foot, even during the season of heavy snowfall.

2-Hours Guided Snowshoe Experience with Bonfire:
Join our guide on a snowshoeing walk through the beautiful surroundings of Sorrisniva. On this 2-hour experience we will walk to a wooden shelter which is perfectly located halfway up a mountain ridge and make a bonfire. From here you will have a perfect viewpoint of the Alta valley, the surrounding mountains and frozen river below. While taking a break by the campfire you enjoy something warm to drink and a local refreshment. Stops are made along the trail and the guide will tell you about the local nature and history. This trip suits everyone and no prior experience or preparations are needed.

4-Hours Frozen Waterfall Snowshow Hike:
During your 4-hour adventure with Sorrisniva, you’ll delve deep into the heart of the Alta Valley and its snow-laden forests, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot some of the region’s unique wildlife while engaging in invigorating winter exercise. Along the way, we’ll pause to appreciate the stunning views and learn about the area’s rich natural and cultural heritage from our knowledgeable guide. And what’s a winter adventure without a cozy break for a warm beverage and a snack to recharge our batteries?
