About Bodø
Bodø is not just the southernmost city in Norway which has midnight sun midsummer, it is also the only city north of the Arctic Circle which has been a European Capital of Culture (in 2024). In addition to the cultural concept of classical concerts and various festivals, the city is also the home arena for the football club Bodø Glimt, which plays in the European League.
The city is located on the coast, which influences the climate, mild winters and cool summers. The city itself is marked by the demolition caused during the second world war, so you will not find many old buildings. The lack of charming old buildings is overshadowed by the fantastic nature that the surrounds the city, fjords, mountains and archipelagos.
In addition to the offerings, you would expect to find in a city; shops, museums, bars and restaurants, there is also a wide range of activities and experiences in the district in and around Bodø (called Salten). No matter what you prefer, activities in nature or cultural experiences, Bodø, and the district of Salten, have something to offer everyone.
