Fatbike: cool, fat and playful! Fatbikes are relatively ordinary mountain bikes without suspension shocks fitted with extremely oversized wheels. The tyres are often up to 5", hence the name fatbike. With such wide wheels, cycling is now possible year-round including on snow in winter.
Fatbiking is catching on fast in Alta, and your hosts are the first company in Alta to have the pleasure of offering both short and long guided fatbike trips and also fatbike rental.
Join your guides for an evening fatbike trip along the many scenic dog sledding and snowmobile trails in the Alta Valley. This is an unforgettable nature-based experience with a large portion of exercise included for good measure. On this trip we use powerful head torches that light up the forest and trails. If we switch off the torches, there's a good chance we will spot the majestic Northern Lights dancing in the sky above us! It does not get much cooler than this! We stop en route at one of the Alta Valley's many rustic shelters to light a fire and enjoy snacks/a light meal and tea/coffee brewed on the fire.
The tour includes transport from and back to Alta (pickup 4PM, dropoff 8PM), fatbike rental, helmet and overshoe rental, and a light meal along the trail. Bring a small backpack for spare clothes (e.g. a down jacket to wear during the lunch break. Fatbiking is a demanding, physical sport, so you'll need a good fitness level to join in. In all cases, the tour guides will determine the route, ride duration and intensity based on the fitness level and cycling experience of the group.
