Do you want to join us for a trip to explore the wild fjords of Finnmark and Troms and also have a glimpse of the majestic Øksfjord glacier? This tour will put you right at sea level for a magical experience. You don`t need any kayak skills beforehand. This trip fits everybody. We adjust the trip according to the group's skills and level.
We leave Alta and Alta Fjord, passing several historic landmarks on the route. Our local guide will tell you about the history of Alta from the earliest settlements, Alta`s favorable position under the Northern Lights belt and the local history up until today.
When we arrive at our destination in Jøkelfjord we will have a safety briefing, hop into dry suits and put the kayaks on the water. We will paddle towards the Jøkelfjord glacier, enjoying the great arctic nature and scenery. We might see the magnificent polar dolphin or the majestic sea eagle. After a couple of hours we will go ashore for a welcome break, lunch and hot drinks. Then it's back to the water for the return journey.
The tour includes transport, dry suit, lunch, hot coffee/tea/toddy and biscuits. The dry suit makes for a comfortable tour even in bad weather, but you should still wear warm clothing, preferably woolen long underwear. Bring a warm hat, gloves and jacket for the lunch break. We have drybags, so you can pack your belongings in a waterproof case.
