Leave the bus and car behind and experience Alta right up close. On this 4,5km arctic wandering trip we leave the city and head down towards the fjord via our viewpoint and several historic landmarks en route, with a guide that knows a lot about Alta including one of the best places for an outdoor lunch!
You will hear about the history of Alta from the earliest settlements, the early northern lights research in the area, nature and culture, Recherche expedition in the fjord, the local church, the Northern Lights Cathedral, Alta's favorable position under the Northern Lights belt and up until today. We also stop by our fireplace near the sea where we enjoy the silence and prepare our food on the open fire.
The tour departs from downtown Alta by the Northern Lights Cathedral. Spikes and hiking poles can be rented if needed, but be sure to dress for the weather - you'll be out for several hours. A snackpack, coffee/tea, toddy and biscuits are provided along the way.
