Immerse yourself in local culture in downtown Alta. Visit the Northern Lights Cathedral, a new church that has already become a well known icon and symbol of the town. Photo opportunities await both outside and in, as you tour the church that combines spiritual and natural elements in its design and artwork. Then, head to the ground floor under the church to BorealisAlta, a fun and fascinating exhibition with a Northern Lights theme. Learn about the science behind this phenomenon, and take a little extra time to dance and sing with the aurora in fun interactive stations. You'll find a wealth of information delivered in a clear and engaging format - by the time you leave you'll have a solid understanding of the aurora and the history of its research, and you may have even beaten your friends in a singalong contest!
The tour includes entrance to both the church and the BorealisAlta exhibit downstairs. Guided tours of the church are available, and they must be booked in advance via North Adventure or the tourist office. Please note that tours cannot be taken during worship or other church services.
